Glider operations started early today in Marion with 3 sailplanes and both tow ships. It was an exciting morning with a student’s first flight in the 1-26 (see video below). We had a nice window of blue sky and the beginning of thermal activity supplying areas of lift by 12pm; however, a string of thunderstorms was rolling in to the north and west and a decision was made to halt operations for the day. We managed to get all sailplanes and aircraft hangared as the first drops were felt by around 2pm. Many thanks to Cheryl and Milt for towing!
