Soaring report from Kaz

Cloud base for me was 8600ft MSL. I flew to Willard and back for a 3.5hr flight, 83.1nm distance. I wanted to go further, but I reached the edge of the CUs and wanted to be conservative. My variometer was pegged at 11+ kts at times flying through the thermal cores. I saw 6+ knots as a common average thermal climb.  I thought was strapped down enough, but I still managed to knock my head on the Cirrus canopy on tow. I could feel some Gs early on when I tried to stay centered in the strong thermals. Jared flew to Akron. Leigh is getting the hang of his new glider. Mark did a guest ride. Thanks John for towing. Hopefully there’s another tow pilot next time so you can fly a glider.
